Press Launch: The Riding Club of London

The Riding Club of London was founded in the summer of 2008 by two horse riding enthusiasts, Ashley Parasram and Rosie Ruck Keene, who saw an opportunity to facilitate affordable access to quality horses for intermediate to advanced riders living in London.

The Club has been met with a surge of interest and has now grown to over 100 members who enjoy regular riding in and around the Capital, from show jumping in St John’s Wood to learning chukkas at premier Polo Clubs and hacking in Windsor Great Park.

The Club also looks beyond London for weekends of cross country training in Warwickshire; beach gallops in the Camargue, France; and Andalucian dressage and sherry-fuelled flamenco in Spain. The Club also hosts a variety of relaxed social events in London, ranging from lecture evenings at some of London’s most exclusive venues to pub drinks, BBQs and balls.

Tim Hadaway, Equestrian Manager, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games, said: “With the 2012 Games approaching, LOCOG is keen to see participation and accessibility increasing across sport. The Riding Club of London is taking great steps to help towards this by bringing together riders from all over the capital with original ideas and events as well as first class instruction and training.”

Andrew Finding, CEO, British Equestrian Federation “The Riding Club of London not only promotes riding, it also demonstrates that equestrian sports can be encouraged in cities and that those who share a passion for riding can continue to develop their skills whilst living in London. It is a wonderful achievement and we wish them every success.”

The Riding Club of London launch party will take place at the Hyde Park Barracks, London.
